The X-Files Season 1

The first time....
It was on one of my trips to AZ to visit my pop when our family was talking to him and he had on a program. I started to watch it while my mom was talking to him. from that very moment i was totally sucked into the episode. I dont remember the actual episode but i just remember it had to be from the first season because we hadn't joined him in AZ yet and that would have been because we were still in CA.

after my mom finished her catching up with pop, i asked him what he had been watching when we got there. he said that he didnt remember but that it was some new program that had caught his attention. cool. From that point on, i was hooked. it be came an obsession. so, i'll go through some of my favorites from the series.

At this point in my tv watching career, i had never seen anything like it. The subject matter was darker than what i remember watching at the time and it wasn't some lame attempt at comedy. This was something different. I had never seen such suspicion and paranoia laid out in front of an audience like that. Sure, there was The Twilight Zone, but this is different. It was my first true taste of conspiracy....and I ate it up like a starving child. HOOKED!

Let's take this season by season.

Season 1 of The X-Files...Favs

Pilot - I liked the pilot episode. It was great to see that this series would not show the aliens or the aircraft that was being talked about and referenced. They used great lighting tricks, great music, great sounds that just conveyed everything scary and suspenseful that the episode needed.

Squeeze - Eugene Victor Tooms freaked me the heck out! I can never look at the actor in the same way since seeing this episode. It was truly disturbing.

Beyond the Sea - This episode was kind of freaky for its psychic connection. I have a great relationship with my father. So, seeing Dana interact with her father is very sweet. Too many weird connections Boggs demonstrates be it channeling Dana's younger side to seeing everything through the eyes of the young teens taken is a little unsettling for Dana and me sometimes.

Darkness Falls - I generally enjoy camping. So, any movies or TV episodes that deal with the forest can generally give me more of a creep out factor than those set in a major city. I liked this episode because it reinforces the fear of the dark. Having to keep the lights on because something unknow is all around us....yeah. This episode definitely has the creepy feeling. ;)

Tooms - Tooms is back and out and after Scully. This episode really upped the freak out factor that Squeeze had already established. The most terrifying part of the whole episode is Scully's scream of fear and defiance. Fantastic!

The Erlenmeyer Flask - Is this the end? The ending sure made it appear so. Great episode. There was so many great visuals in this episode: the tank of clones, the alien fetus extracted from dry ice, the rising clone from the water.... They closed the x-files. Thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

So, those are a my favorites from Season 1.
